Detroit, MI’s We Came As Romansis premiering their new music video for “Hope” today on wecameasromans.com.

Bassist Andrew Glass, who has always played an integral role in the visual and artistic direction of the band – ranging from album art to music videos – speaks of the concept behind the video for “Hope” explaining, “Standing up and becoming united as one, is what the main idea of the video is. In the video, you see our vocalists Dave Stephens and Kyle Pavone becoming inspired and compelled to create a change within themselves and others. Hope is a fire that burns inside us all and one which can never be put out.”

The music video was filmed by directors Dan Kennedy and Rasa Acharya (Say Anything, Texas In July).

The song comes from their recently released digital deluxe version ofUnderstanding What We’ve Grown To Be, which in addition to “Hope” includes two more new songs – “Let These Words Last Forever” and “The King of Silence”. The deluxe album is available now through digital retailers such as iTunes and Amazon. A physical release is scheduled for the Spring with more information and pre-orders to be available soon through MerchNOW.com. Understanding What We’ve Grown To Be was originally released in September 2011 and debuted at No. 20 on the Billboard Current Top 200.

Celebrating its eleventh year of raising funds and awareness to non-profit organizations, Sub City (Hopeless Records’ 501c3 non-profit organization, which has raised more than two million dollars for charity), is pleased to announce the 2013 edition of the Sub City Take Action Tour Featuring The Used. This year the tour will be benefiting the It Gets Better Project, a national organization created to show young LGBT people the levels of happiness, potential, and positivity their lives will reach – if they can just get through their teen years. The It Gets Better Project wants to remind teenagers going through tough times that they are not alone — and it WILL get better.

The tour will feature alt-rock headliner, The Used, with support from We Came As Romans, Crown The Empire, and Mindflow. Kicking off at Las Vegas’ House of Blues on January 11th, the annual nationwide charity tour will circle the US through February, showcasing some of the best bands in music today while raising funds and awareness for It Gets Better and the concept that we can all help play a part in making a positive impact. Ten percent of the cost of each ticket purchased will be donated to It Gets Better and Sub City. The 2011 Take Action Tour raised nearly $50,000 to help further the mission of the non-profit, SEX, ETC., with over 19,000 fans attending the 30-stop city tour. Previous benefitting charities of the Sub City Take Action Tour also include Driving For Donors, Do Something, America’s Youth Hotline, ReachOut.com and The National Hopeline Network. To date, Sub City and the Take Action Tour have donated over 2 million dollars to over 50 non-profit organizations.

Tickets are on sale today, here: www.takeactiontour.com/2013. VIP ticket options will be available to fans, which include front of the line passes, collectable laminate and signed copy of Vulnerable II.

It Gets Better Project is a place where young people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or struggling to find themselves can see how love and happiness can be a reality in their future. It’s a place where our straight allies can visit and support their friends and family members. It’s a place where people can share their stories, take the It Gets Better Project pledge and watch videos of love and support.

“The It Gets Better Project is thrilled to collaborate with The Used and Hopeless Records on the upcoming Take Action! tour. The Used are powerful voices for young people, well known for their community involvement and outreach, and for encouraging young people to embrace their individuality.” Stephanie Laffin, Board of Directors at It Gets Better Project, stated. “We look forward to working together to share the message of the It Gets Better Project with young people across the US, and letting LGBT youth know that it can and will get better.”

Bert and Jeph from The Used have created an It Gets Better video to help support the cause. Fans can view the video HERE: http://youtu.be/N-0MtFYFs-g.

“It’s our privilege to work with such a lovely charity that does so much good in this confusing world. Please check out itgetsbetterproject.org and we’ll see you on the Take Action Tour,” says The Used frontman, Bert McCracken.

We Came As Romans’ guitarist/lyricist, Joshua Moore, also tells us, “We’re excited to be back touring in the US after three months. Though it’s fun to do international tours, there’s nothing like touring our own country, especially with such a well respected band like The Used, who a lot of our band grew up listening to, and on such a renowned annual tour. We can’t wait!”

In addition, Hopeless Records, in partner with their non- profit organization Sub City, presents Take Action Compilation Volume 11, a compilation album for charity. This year features two CDs full of unreleased and exclusive tracks from The Used, Bad Religion, AWOL Nation, All Time Low, 3OH!3 and many more. 5% of the suggested retail price from the sale of this compilation will go to continue to fulfill Sub City’s mission to connect bands, fans and causes they are passionate about. For the most current donation total and full list of charities benefiting from this and other Sub City releases, please visit: SubCity.net.

THE USED: www.TheUsed.net

Selling over 3 million albums worldwide in the span of their career, The Used released their highly anticipated album “Vulnerable” earlier this year on their own label, Anger Music Group partnered with Hopeless Records. The album has sold over 70k copies to date and continues to climb. The band will headline the Take Action Tour benefitting ItGetsBetterProject, a cause they are extremely passionate about.

The band is also excited to announce the release of Vulnerable II- a 2 disc re- issue of the highly successful 2012 release Vulnerable that includes the 12 original tracks, 4 brand new songs, 3 acoustic versions and 3 remixes. Vulnerable II will be released January 22, 2013.

The CD and bundle packages are now available for pre order here: www.hopelessrecords.com/theused

About It Gets Better:

In September 2010, syndicated columnist and author Dan Savage created a YouTube video with his partner Terry Miller to inspire hope for young people facing harassment. In response to a number of students taking their own lives after being bullied in school, they wanted to create a personal way for supporters everywhere to tell LGBT youth that, yes, it does indeed get better.

The It Gets Better Project™ has become a worldwide movement, inspiring more than 50,000 user-created videos viewed more than 50 million times. To date, the project has received submissions from celebrities, organizations, activists, politicians and media personalities, including President Barack Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Rep. Nancy Pelosi, Adam Lambert, Anne Hathaway, Colin Farrell, Matthew Morrison of “Glee”, Joe Jonas, Joel Madden, Ke$ha, Sarah Silverman, Tim Gunn, Ellen DeGeneres, Suze Orman, the staffs of The Gap, Google, Facebook, Pixar, the Broadway community, and many more. For us, every video changes a life. It doesn’t matter who makes it.

Celebrating its tenth anniversary of raising funds and awareness to assorted non-profit organizations, Sub City (Hopeless Records’ non-profit organization which has raised more than two million dollars for charity), is pleased to announce the 2011 edition of TAKE ACTION TOUR. This year’s much-lauded beneficiary is SEX, ETC., the Teen-to-Teen Sexuality Education Project of Answer, a national organization dedicated to providing and promoting comprehensive sexuality education to young people and the adults who teach them. “Sex is a hot topic amongst Take Action bands and fans but rarely communicated in a honest and accurate way,” says Louis Posen, Hopeless Records president. “Either don’t do it or do it right!”

Presented by Hot Topic, the tour will feature celebrated indie rock co-headliners SILVERSTEIN and BAYSIDE, along with POLAR BEAR CLUB, THE SWELLERS and TEXAS IN JULY. Kicking off at Boston’s Paradise Rock Club on April 22nd, the annual nationwide charity tour will circle the US, presenting the best bands in music today while raising funds and awareness for Sex, Etc. and the concept that we can all play a part in making a positive impact in the world. Ten percent of the cost of each ticket sold is donated to Sex, Etc. and Sub City 501c3 non-profits. Pre-sale tickets go on sale today at: http://tixx1.artistarena.com/takeactiontour/.

“Growing up, every local show we played was a charity show,” says Silverstein vocalist Shane Told. “It was an important part of the scene that we were doing what we loved and more importantly helping others. To step back into that and work with our label to give back, it feels really great. We were a part of Take Action Tour in 2006, and when we had the opportunity to co-headline the tour this year, we jumped at the chance. We couldn’t be more proud to be leading the charge this year with our best friends, Bayside.”

Echoes Bayside bassist Nicholas Ghanbarian, “We’re really excited to be part of Take Action Tour because we’ve never been on a tour where part of the proceeds is going to charity which is great. We’re also super excited to be heading out on the road with some friends that we haven’t played with in years!”

“We were honored to have been contacted by Take Action Tour’s record label, Hopeless Records, which was looking for a nonprofit organization to be a part of the 2011 tour,” explains Answer’s Executive Director Elizabeth Schroeder, Ed. D, M.S.W. “It’s amazing that both the company and the artists they represent have been willing over the years to help educate young people about what organizations around the country are doing to serve others. We’re very grateful that Answer has been chosen to be a part of this year’s tour.”

As the teen-focused program of Answer, the award-winning national organization based at NJ’s Rutgers University, Sex, Etc.’s mission is to improve teen sexual health information and resources across the country. “Our organization’s tag line, ‘Sex Ed, Honestly,’ reflects our core belief that young people have the right to receive honest, accurate and age-appropriate information about the entire range of topics related to sexuality,” she continues. “For 30 years, we have reached millions of young people, community and school professionals, and parents throughout the United States.”

With an active online community (sexetc.org) and a national magazine of the same name, Sex, Etc. serves as a resource and destination for teens seeking advice and healthy communication on questions about sex, relationships, pregnancy, STDs, contraception, sexual orientation, and more.

Presenting sponsor Hot Topic has worked with Take Action Tour since the tour’s inception in 1999 and their commitment to helping make a positive impact continues to be as strong in 2011 as it has ever been. The music lifestyle mall retailer (hottopic.com) is a natural fit as a presenter, because they demonstrate a passion for music in everything they do. Expect to see the bands from the tour making several special appearances at local Hot Topic locations throughout the tour. Also generously supporting the 2011 tour are Alternative Press, LifeStyles Condoms, Hopeless Records, Wind-up Records, Bridge Nine Records, Fueled By Ramen and Equal Vision Records.

Maika Maile of There for Tomorrow turns to music to help deal with the difficult memories of childhood tragedy.

“Thank you mtvU and Half Of Us for incorporating There For Tomorrow and I into their efforts against detrimental human issues. Over the latest half of my life, I’ve come across a vast array of inquisitions regarding who I am and why I do what I do. I believe my past is the largest indication of what I involve myself with at given times. There are never intentions of exalting any sort of mystique with the way I reveal myself, people have just found me to be a mystery. This may help you solve it.”

Nearly all mental health issues can be improved with proper treatment. When we decrease the stigma around mental health and encourage students to seek help if they need it, we are changing and saving lives.

Through Half of Us, mtvU and The Jed Foundation want to initiate a public dialogue to raise awareness about the prevalence of mental health issues and connect students to the appropriate resources to get help. In planning for the campaign, mtvU conducted extensive research on how stress and depression are affecting young people nationwide.

Hopeless Records, through its non-profit organization Sub City, is pleased to once again bring you the Take Action Tour Australia. This year the tour will once again spotlight ReachOut.com, an Australian youth service aimed to improve the mental health and wellbeing of Australian young people.

Presented by Destroy All Line, Hopeless Records, Mistake Clothing, Blunt and killyourstere.com the tour will feature headliner Attack Attack!, in addition to Pierce The Veil and Dream On, Dreamer. The annual charity tour, now in its ninth year, raises funds and awareness for youth involvement in charitable action. The tour will kick off in Adelaide on September 10 and end on September 19 in Brisbane. Tickets will go on sale on June 18.

Reach Out is a web-based service that aims to improve the mental health and wellbeing of young people aged 14-25 years by providing them with information, support and advice on issues like depression, bullying, wellbeing and relationships. The anonymous and free support website offers skill development by working with health professionals to strengthen the pathways between online and community based service delivery. 10% (excluding GST) of the cost of each ticket sold is donated to further this cause making each person attending the Take Action Tour an active participant in making the world a better place.

The tour’s headliners Attack Attack!, hailing from central Ohio, have gone from strength to strength since the release of their debut full-length, Someday Came Suddenly. Amidst the sensationalist reviews, mainstream news coverage and viral video crazes, the brash quintet has ignored the naysayers and persevered to become one of the most rapidly rising and exciting bands in heavy music today! With their self-titled second record quickly cementing their position atop the post-hardcore heap, Attack Attack! are here to move and shake the very foundations of the genre.

No strangers to the road, San Diego four-piece Pierce The Veil will also be making their first appearance on Australian shores as part of Take Action. After the breakout success of their Equal Vision backed debut A Flair For The Dramatic, the forward-thinking quartet racked up some serious miles in the van with everyone from Bring Me The Horizon and The Devil Wears Prada to Four Year Strong and Mayday Parade, while still finding the time to write their smashing new album, Selfish Machines.

Joining these US acts on the road will be Melbourne newcomers Dream On, Dreamer, who recently released their debut EP Hope through Boomtown Records.

Take Action Tour Australia 2009, spearheaded by the chart-topping All Time Low and pop-punk sensations Set Your Goals raised over $17,000 for the youth suicide prevention team at ReachOut.com, an achievement that is set to repeat itself off the back of this year’s eclectic line-up.

The Take Action Tour is always comprised of the brightest up-and-coming stars of tomorrow. Previous acts involved include: The Plain White T’s, All Time Low, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, We The Kings, Paramore, Every Time I Die, Jimmy Eat World, Avenged Sevenfold, Hawthorne Heights, Chiodos, Thrice, Anti-Flag, Silverstein, Dillinger Escape Plan, and many more.

About Hopeless Records and Sub City: Founded in 1993, Hopeless Records is a Southern California independent record label home to breakout artists All Time Low, There For Tomorrow, Anarbor, We Are The In Crowd, and many more. Throughout its 15-year history, Hopeless Records has released more than 100 albums and launched the careers of Avenged Sevenfold, Thrice, and Melee. In 1999 Hopeless Records formally started supporting non-profit organizations under the Sub City banner with charitable albums, tours, and events. Now itself a registered 501c3 non-profit organization, Sub City continues this mission of raising funds and awareness for worthy causes, and to date has raised nearly $2 million dollars for over 50 non-profit organizations.

The recently completed ninth annual Take Action Tour just wrapped up with one last triumphant hurrah in Dallas on March 2, 2010. The tour, whose mission is to create a better world, continues to inspire and make change in a proactive manner.

The Impact of the 2010 Take Action Tour:

-Over $60,000 raised to help further the mission of Patrick Pedraja and his organization Driving For Donors

-Over 30,000 fans in 31 cities proved that the world can be made a better place

-Tour reaches goal enlisting over 2010 fans to sign up for the National Marrow Registry!

-Nearly 8,000 copies of the Take Action Volume 9 compilation sold

Headlining band We The Kings, along with Mayday Parade, A Rocket To The Moon, There For Tomorrow, Stereo Skyline, and Call The Cops united an impressive amount of fans across the U.S. and Canada that cared about more than just attending a great show. The active and engaged audience stood up to make a difference by raising funds, awareness and actual life saving donor volunteers for Driving For Donors (an organization started by now 14-year-old Patrick Pedraja who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia at age 10) whose mission is to sign up people to the National Marrow Registry.

Take Action 2010 raised over $60,000 for Patrick Padraja’s mission through the unique model of donating 10% of each ticket sold to charity, along with other fundraising efforts including donating 5% of the suggested retail price of each Take Action Volume 9 compilation sold.

Hopeless/Sub City would like to thank all the bands and labels involved this year that brought the message directly to fans that each one of us can take action and make the world a better place.

Take Action looks forward to continue to support Patrick Pedraja and Driving For Donors’ mission of saving lives and everyone at Hopeless Records & Sub City Non Profit is grateful for the opportunity to organize this tour to benefit him and be involved in such a great cause in even a small way. Hopeless Records & Sub City Non Profit is hard at work on the next Take Action Tour and will be announcing the next benefiting charity soon. In 2007, at age 11, Patrick and his family started Driving For Donors and traveled around the country in a special “Donormobile” with the mission of signing people up for the National Marrow Registry to help find bone marrow matches for people in need of a transplant. Since then they have added over 22,000 donors to the registry, saved more than 24 people’s lives with matches and raised over $100,000 for tissue typing fees and drive expenses by selling advertising on Patrick’s bald head.
