Maika Shares his story with mtvU’s Half of Us

Maika Maile of There for Tomorrow turns to music to help deal with the difficult memories of childhood tragedy.
“Thank you mtvU and Half Of Us for incorporating There For Tomorrow and I into their efforts against detrimental human issues. Over the latest half of my life, I’ve come across a vast array of inquisitions regarding who I am and why I do what I do. I believe my past is the largest indication of what I involve myself with at given times. There are never intentions of exalting any sort of mystique with the way I reveal myself, people have just found me to be a mystery. This may help you solve it.”

Nearly all mental health issues can be improved with proper treatment. When we decrease the stigma around mental health and encourage students to seek help if they need it, we are changing and saving lives.
Through Half of Us, mtvU and The Jed Foundation want to initiate a public dialogue to raise awareness about the prevalence of mental health issues and connect students to the appropriate resources to get help. In planning for the campaign, mtvU conducted extensive research on how stress and depression are affecting young people nationwide.
