Food Bank of the Rockies (FBR) was founded in 1978 and was known as the Colorado Food Clearing House. Operating from a 900-square-foot schoolroom in northwest Denver, the fledgling organization collected food from nearby Safeway stores and distributed it to one agency.
Today, FBR has extended its reach across Northern Colorado and Wyoming, providing food supplies to more than 1000 hunger-relief programs. In its first 29 years, FBR has provided nearly 305 million pounds of food to our member agencies, which translates to more than 230 million meals for people in need. Last year, we distributed more than 22 million pounds of food, enough to provide almost 47,000 meals each day to children, seniors and families in need. FBR is a member of America ’s Second Harvest – the Nation’s Food Bank Network.
The annual nationwide charity tour, now in its eighth year, raises funds and awareness for youth involvement in charitable action. This years tour presented by FYE features headliner Cute Is What We Aim For, Breathe Carolina, Meg & Dia, Every Avenue and Anarbor. The charitable tour coincides with the annual Take Action benefit compilation. The CD/DVD compilation is available on tour and in stores and includes unreleased tracks from Meg & Dia, The Spill Canvas, and Four Year Strong, as well as unreleased videos from Rise Against and All Time Low. 5% of the suggested retail price for each Take Action! Volume 8 unit sold is donated to DoSomething.org.
To date, Sub City- a registered 501c3 organization, has raised over $1.5 million for various charitable organizations; much of that a result of Take Action. Proving to music fans that yes, we can help bring forth change, making a difference can be as fun and easy as buying a concert ticket or a CD/DVD.
