THE CAUSE: ReachOut.com is an Australian youth service dedicated to reducing youth suicide. Take Action was able to help ReachOut continue to provide young people with an anonymous and free support website which provides info and advice on issues like depression, bullying, wellbeing and relationships.

THE IMPACT: Over $17,000 was raised for ReachOut.com!

THE BANDS: Cute Is What We Aim For, Breathe Carolina, Meg & Dia, Every Avenue, Anarbor

THE CAUSE: Charity partner Do Something is a place where young people are given the opportunity to help change the world. Instead of telling young people what cause they should get involved with, Do Something asks them “What’s your something?” and then gives them the information, resources, and grant money to make change around the causes they are passionate about.

THE IMPACT: 40 shows across the US and Canada, Over $37,000 was raised for Do Something to help young people make a positive difference in their community, & Over 23,000 fans were exposed to the message of positive difference that can be made by each of us through activism and charitable work

THE BANDS: Every Time I Die, From First To Last, The Bled, August Burns Red, The Human Abstract

THE CAUSE: Charity partner Do Something is a place where young people are given the opportunity to help change the world. Instead of telling young people what cause they should get involved with, Do Something asks them “What’s your something?” and then gives them the information, resources, and grant money to make change around the causes they are passionate about.

THE IMPACT: Over $75,000 was raised for Do Something to help young people make a positive difference in the world(based on a donation of 10% of all tickets sold and additional tour related fundraising). Take Action Grants, empowered by MySpace Impact, the Hot Topic Foundation and Hopeless/Sub City Records, were awarded to 9 amazing young people who want to make change in their communities, with a focus on everything from music and art education to suicide prevention and poverty.

THE CAUSE: The Youth America Hotline (YAH!), founded by the Kristin Brooks Hope Center (KBHC), is a peer-to-peer counseling network of community based crisis hotlines that help teens and young adults in crisis and provides education on mental health issues. Some of the hotlines have been serving their communities for over 30 years. The Youth America Hotline networks these local lines together, under one easy to remember hotline, 1-877-YOUTHLINE (968-8454). Teens and young people who are looking for peer support are seamlessly connected to an available counselor.

THE IMPACT: Over $100,000 was raised for the Kristin Brooks Hope Center to benefit the Youth America Hotline (based on a donation of 10% of all tickets sold and additional tour related fundraising). Take Action has raised nearly $450,000 for KBHC since the year 2001.

THE CAUSE: Benefitting the National Hopeline Network 1800SUICIDE in their cause of raising awareness about the problems surrounding suicide and raising funds for their national prevention network and hot line

2002 Plea For Peace/Take Action Tour

THE CAUSE: Kristin Brooks Hope Center National Hopeline Network 1-800-SUICIDE With suicide claiming the lives of more than 5,000 American teens each year, and with another 500,000 who make a non-fatal suicide attempt requiring hospitalization, the Kristin Brooks Hope Center and its National Hopeline Network, 1-800-SUICIDE, work to decrease suicide by making community-based services accessible to all who need them. The Hopeline Network is a group of certified crisis centers, which receive calls 24 hours a day and 7 days a week (the line is never busy).
THE IMPACT: Over $35,000 was raised for the Kristin Brooks Hope Center

2001 Plea for Peace/Take Action Tour

THE BANDS:Hot Water Music, Mike Park, Selby Tigers, Thrice, Alkaline Trio, Matt Skiba, Cave In, The Eyeliners, Zero Zero, Strike Anywhere

THE CAUSE:Kristin Brooks Hope Center National Hopeline Network 1-800-SUICIDE With suicide claiming the lives of more than 5,000 American teens each year, and with another 500,000 who make a non-fatal suicide attempt requiring hospitalization, the Kristin Brooks Hope Center and its National Hopeline Network, 1-800-SUICIDE, work to decrease suicide by making community-based services accessible to all who need them. The Hopeline Network is a group of certified crisis centers, which receive calls 24 hours a day and 7 days a week (the line is never busy).

THE IMPACT: The tour stopped in 35 us cities, performed in front of over 20,000 people and raised over $20,000 for the Hopeline Network 1-800-SUICIDE and their certified local crisis centers. In addition to the funds raised, the tour retrieved thousands of petition signatures to allocate federal funds for mental health issues. The petitions were presented by The Hopeline Network to the Senate appropriations on mental health committee in Washington DC.

THE COMPILATION: The Plea For Peace/Take Action CD compliments the annual Plea For Peace/Take Action music, awareness and fundraising tour. The compilation creates a unique and effective way to combine promoting bands, raising social awareness, and generating necessary funds for non-profit organizations.
